Soap opera star and wife go through nasty divorce

On Behalf of | May 18, 2017 | Divorce

Some Ohio couples who end their marriages have a cordial break-up with little tension as they decide who gets what, who pays what and how much. Other couples, however, have a highly acrimonious split where they argue about everything. A well-known entertainer in the soap opera genre has filed for divorce from his wife and things are not going well.

Residents who have been fans of the soap operas “General Hospital” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” might recognize the husband, a former star from both shows, Antonio Sabato, Jr. After five years of marriage, Sabato filed the papers at the end of last year. The couple has a 6-year-old son for whom Sabato is seeking joint custody. His wife is counteracting his request by pursuing joint legal custody but sole physical custody.

Sabato’s estranged wife, Cheryl Marie, claims she is worried about the safety of her son because of Sabato’s admitted drug addiction. He has previously been in rehab for problems with prescription medication given to help him sleep. She also states crystal meth had been an issue for him before the two of them started dating, although he quit using once his daughter from a previous relationship was born. Sabato has plans to run for Congress in the near future with drug addiction as part of his platform.

A person seeking a dissolution of marriage may not know where to turn during such a tumultuous time. Divorce laws can be confusing and each state varies in its requirements. For that reason, it may be best to retain the services of a local attorney who is well acquainted with the regulations of Ohio.
