Empowering Clients to Make Informed, Intelligent Decisions

Admitting that divorce is the only reasonable option

Ohio readers know that it is rarely an easy decision to file for divorce. This step may follow months or years of fighting, stress and difficulty, but many people still find it hard to admit that sometimes divorce is the only reasonable option by which a family can find peace and move forward. When divorce is the only choice for a person, it is time to take the necessary legal steps.

People often say "Divorce is not an option," but for many people, it is only way to find happiness. Virtually no one gets married with the intention to end the marriage at some point, but sometimes even the best efforts to save a marriage are to no avail. Contrary to what some people may believe, children are quite capable of adjusting to their parents' divorce. Despite their fears and disputes, parents are often able to reach a custody arrangement that allows them to peacefully co-parent for the benefit of the children.

Staying in an unhappy marriage can lead to stress and fighting that eventually takes a toll on the children as well as the parties. When a marriage is no longer working or two people are no longer suited to remain partners, there is no shame in admitting that the best option is to end the marriage. Whether it is financially, emotionally or physically, every person has the right to protect his or her interests.

Divorce is not an easy decision, but it is a necessary one for many in Ohio. By working with an experienced lawyer, a person can more effectively navigate this legal process, seeking results that are also beneficial for any children. Before filing for divorce, it is helpful to gain an understanding of what lies ahead by seeking a complete case evaluation.
